CAPUCHIN FRIARS
If you come to our church, you will easily recognise the faces below. We belong to the Religious Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, following the Rule of Life given to us by St. Francis of Assisi. The Capuchin family is a reform movement of the Franciscan family and began in 1525. There are about 10,500 friars present in over 100 countries across the globe. Currently there are 23 friars present in the British Province, in our friaries at Erith, Oxford, Chester and Durham. Our Rule is simply to live the Gospel following in the footsteps of Our Lord after the example of St. Francis of Assisi. We do that by being brothers to one another and those we come across, contemplation, living God’s poverty and humility, respecting and caring for all creation, and bringing some love and joy into all we do.
