There are some steps which must be taken to get married at the parish, here is a condensed version:
Couples wishing to marry in the Catholic Church must contact their local priest or deacon as soon as possible, regardless of where the wedding will take place.
At least six months’ notice is required, but nine months is recommended for weddings outside the UK to allow time for preparation and paperwork.
No wedding date should be set until after the first meeting, as this ensures both people are free to marry and understand the requirements.
For weddings abroad, all arrangements must go through the local parish first so documents can be processed and sent through the Diocese in time.
